Stanisław Tym po raz pierwszy pojawił się na ekranie w 1959 roku. Przełomem dla niego był "Rejs" Marka Piwowskiego, gdzie wcielił się w pasażera na gapę, który zostaje mylnie wzięty za "kaowca". W 1976 roku napisał pierwszy scenariusz dla Stanisława Barei do filmu "Brunet wieczorową porą". Przy "Co mi zrobisz, jak mnie złapiesz" był już nie tylko autorem historii, ale też drugim reżyserem. Podobnie było przy kultowym "Misiu" z 1980 roku oraz "Rozmowach kontrolowanych" z 1991 roku.
